Sports Injury Care

We have undergone training to understand the biomechanics of the body and postgraduate training in sports therapies and sports injury management.

I had the privilege to support Richard in a race across America a 3000-mile cycle race, reported to be the toughest cycle race in the world. I have had an interest in sport within my own practice and now see a range of patients who enjoy the sport from my Nordic walkers to the ultra runners, tennis player to hammer throwers. And of course my own interest in open water swimming!

Each person undergoes a full medical and lifestyle history and assessment so that their treatment is as individual as their interest.

Most people are treated on the same day however if there is a clinical need for imagery or a referral this can be arranged for you.

I use a range of approaches to help with your care which may include:
Sports taping uses an elastic adhesive tape that supports joints and muscles without restricting the range of motion, unlike conventional rigid tape. It can be worn for several days at a time and is resilient to getting wet in the shower and sporting conditions. You may have seen it being used in the professional sporting world as brightly coloured tape on legs and arms. Outside the professional field, it can be used in the world to support your Chiropractic treatment and aid recovery.

Dry needling this is used to relieve tight muscles which may reduce pain short team. This technique has been used for some time within physical therapy with a good outcome.

Soft tissue techniques are one of the most commonly used therapies for minor soft tissue injuries to help relieve pain and get muscles back to better function. It works well with chiropractic. I used a range of massage techniques including trigger point and soft tissue releasing.
